Description	This photo shows the 351st Field Artillery, an African American unit during World War I, marching down Fifth Avenue in Pittsburgh. Over 367,000 African American soldiers served in World War I, but only about 40,000 were permitted to join combat units in World War II. The segregation of troops ended in 1948.

Description	The unsuccessful Pressed Steel Car Company strike at McKees Rocks in 1909 is cited as one of the largest labor conflicts involving workers of various ethnic backgrounds. The strike lasted for two months and involved more than 4,700 workers. One confrontation with the police left twelve dead and many more injured.

Description	John Harris' Nickelodeon Theater at 433 Smithfield Street, downtown Pittsburgh was the first theater in the United States devoted exclusively to motion pictures. The Nickelodeon, which opened in June, 1905, had 96 seats, with each show running 12 to 20 minutes. The first bill was a double feature showing the films "Poor and Honest" and "Baffled Burglar."

Wabash Railroad Station

Description	The Wabash Station on Liberty at Ferry Street opened in June of 1904. It was designed by Theodore C. Link of St. Louis. It was Pittsburgh's largest Beaux-Arts building and functioned as one of Pittsburgh's four major railroad terminals until it was destroyed by a fire in 1946. Following the fire, the area was proposed for total redevelopment.
